Global Perspectives: Media, Communication, Culture
Engage with the concept of globalization in theory and praxis and localise the way it intersects your lives and understanding of the world.
This course seeks to familiarize you with the skills and analytical tools necessary to engage with the concept of globalization in theory and praxis. and the way its formation and processes intersect your lives and understanding of the world. The goal is to provide a toolbox and framework by which you will be able to more effectively engage globalization as a part of your personal and professional development – philosophically and pragmatically -- as engaged global citizens. Engaging your curiosity and stimulating ourselves intellectually are similarly goals. To that end, we expect to utilize your own international perspectives and experiences to augment our understanding of the subject matter at hand. Furthermore, the recent Coronavirus pandemic (and related global responses/outcomes) will serve as a pragmatic case study to link our exploration of the subject matter to grounded experience. Utilizing the affordances of new media, extensive dialogue, and critical reflection, we will endeavour to enhance our mutual comprehension and perspectives related to conceptualizing and understanding globalization in all its complexity.

Why this program: This program combines classes with site-visits to different companies, industries, and organizations to provide practical examples to the course work.
Learning outcomes: Students in this course will explore how globalization (as process, practice, and system) intersects evolving conceptions of media, communication and culture as international phenomena.
Credits: Students will receive 6 ECTS upon successful completion of this course.
