What made you decide to study in the Czech Republic/Brno/MENDELU?
Firstly, I felt the need to upgrade myself academically with a master degree outside Ghana just to experience studying in a different educational and cultural setting. As someone with a science background, studying in a university named after the renowned scientist, Gregor Mendel and the fact that I could study in English were my main reasons for choosing MENDELU.
Did your studies meet your expectations? How did you find the study programme, instructors, university facilities? Were there any differences from studying in your country?
My expectations were totally met as I experienced a different educational setting which had a more practical and hands-on approach. The facilities at MENDELU are comparable to any top notch university worldwide and this make for optimum teaching and learning.
What was the biggest surprise with regard to studying or living in the Czech Republic/Brno?
The cost of living especially foodstuffs were surprisingly affordable for an EU country and for my almost seven years of stay here, prices have remained relatively stable.
What was your most memorable experience or what did you enjoy most as a student in Brno/MENDELU?
Although, I did not go on an Erasmus study, the opportunity to meet and study with students from different EU countries was very enjoyable. MENDELU have always been a preferred choice for Erasmus students due to the vibrant nature of the city of Brno.
How do you think your time in the Czech Republic/Brno/MENDELU has helped your studies and/or your career?
Immensely. I had the opportunity to study under and work with top notch scientists from all over the world. I will definitely say, MENDELU helped me start a career in research and still have life-long connections that transcends just being a former student.
Do you have any advice for students thinking about studying in Brno/MENDELU? Or would you like to share anything else?
To prospective students wishing to study in the Czech Republic, you will never regret choosing to study at MENDELU. Apart from the university having all the facilities to make your learning experience worthwhile, rest assured that internationalisation is a prime focus of the university hence your needs will be well catered for.
