Practice in Brno's largest hospital
You will practice with real patients, be taught by real doctors from the field, and learn theory in our brand-new simulation centre. With everything from heart examination to autopsy, at Masaryk, you will get hands-on experience.
Your hard work is appreciated
Study a demanding subject with appropriate reward – as a doctor, you will be welcomed and respected everywhere for your knowledge, skills, and hard work.
Choose your career
You do not need to be a GP. There are plenty of opportunities in laboratories, science centres, private facilities, and more. Everywhere, a doctor is needed.
This six-year full-time Master's study programme is designed to prepare students for the medical profession. By completing their studies, students earn the MUDr. (Doctor of General Medicine) degree. The programme is designed for graduates of secondary schools completed with a school-leaving examination. In the course of the first two years, the curriculum includes primarily theoretical courses (Biology, Biophysics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Anatomy, Histology, and Physiology). To be able to complete these courses, students need excellent knowledge of science subjects at the grammar school level. The classes consist of lectures, laboratory practicals, and seminars.
In the course of the fourth and fifth years, the students complete internships at individual clinics and attend lectures that complement the clinical instruction. During the last year of studies, students attend pre-graduation practical training, working at clinics and departments under the supervision of experienced physicians. In the course of the studies, students also complete 4 blocks of summer practical training where they learn about the operation of healthcare facilities and procedures used in practice.
Graduates can apply for a wide range of positions in all the disciplines of medicine including food, water, and product safety services, and paediatrics. They can also work as research workers in biomedical science disciplines or as specialised representatives of pharmacological companies.
Every applicant must have successfully completed secondary education (i.e. secondary school, high school, college, etc.) resulting in a school-leaving examination, rewarded with a final certificate/diploma (e.g. A-level certificates, IB diploma, etc.).
All applicants must provide their secondary school results and the final certificate in order to have their secondary education recognised in the Czech Republic.
Recognition of secondary education is required for the enrolment. The administrative fee for the recognition in the amount of 750 CZK must be paid online before the enrolment.
Every applicant must successfully pass the entrance examination tests (see information below). The applicant is allowed to sit the entrance examination only once per admission year.
Applicants from the USA and Canada can be accepted on the basis of MCAT tests results (minimum 24 or 500 points according to a year of passing) or DAT tests results (minimum 20 points).
Applicants from France can be accepted on the basis of PACES/MMOP results.
Applicants with A-level examination results from the academic year 2018/2019 at the latest can be accepted on the basis of minimum scores A (Chemistry), A (Biology), B (Physics or Mathematics).
Entrance Examination Requirements
The applicants are accepted on the basis of a written entrance examination consisting of three separate tests in the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Mathematics in cases of General Medicine and Dentistry.
Each test contains 40 multiple choice questions with five possible answers out of which only one answer is correct. Each test takes 60 minutes. No periodic tables or other reference materials are necessary, apart from a simple calculator.
The acceptance pass mark in General Medicine is 60%.
The lists of topics for the entrance tests in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Maths and Sample tests are available at:
