The aim of education in the Master's degree program in Pharmacy is to prepare graduates to practice the medical profession of pharmacist. Students gain knowledge, experience, and skills in the preparation and production of drugs and evaluation of their basic required properties, pharmacology and pharmacotherapy, legal, economic and ethical principles of the profession, drug policy, information and consulting activities, disposal of biologically active substances. evaluation of scientific data on medicines, cooperation with other health professionals, and related fields.
A compulsory 6-month pharmacy internship is an integral part of the study. Students in English Master’s program must undertake at least 2 weeks of internship in a pharmacy in the Czech Republic. The remaining 5.5 months of practice can be done anywhere in the world. The curriculum also offers to students to select other internships in a pharmacy or in a pharmaceutical company.
A graduate of the Master's study program in Pharmacy is professionally qualified to perform the medical profession of pharmacist. The graduates of the Master's study program Pharmacy can work as pharmacists in pharmacy care facilities, clinical pharmacists in hospitals, specialists in laboratories for research, development and control of medicinal products, in pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution companies, etc. Graduates also have the opportunity to continue in doctoral study programs.
Every applicant must have successfully completed secondary education (e.g. secondary school, high school, college, etc.) resulting in a school-leaving examination completed with a final certificate/diploma (e.g. A-level certificates, IB diploma, etc.).
All applicants must provide their secondary school results and the final certificate in order to have their secondary education recognized in the Czech Republic.
Recognition of secondary education is required for the enrolment.
Curriculum Vitae is also compulsory to attach to the application.
Every applicant must successfully pass the entrance examination tests (see information below). The applicant is allowed to sit the entrance examination only once per admission year.
It is mandatory for all applicants to take the entrance exam. No exceptions are granted. The entrance exam has written online form and consists of a test from Biology (40 questions) and Chemistry (40 questions). The correct answer to each question is awarded by 1 point, the maximum score is therefore 80 points. The acceptance pass mark is 50% (40 points from both tests in total).
