Microelectronics and Technology
The doctor study programme is devoted to the preparation of the high quality scientific and research specialists in various branches of microelectronics, electrotechnology and physics of materials, namely in theory, design and test of integrated circuits and systems, in semiconductor devices and structures, in smart sensors, in optoelectronics in materials and fabrication processes for electrical engineering, in sources of electric energy, nanotechnology and defectoscopy of materials and devices.
The aim is to provide the doctor education in all these particular branches to students educated in university magister study, to make deeper their theoretical knowledge, to give them also requisite special knowledge and practical skills and to teach them methods of scientific work.
The doctors of the program "Microelectronics and technology" are able to solve scientific and complex engineering tasks from the area of microelectronics and electrical technology. Wide fundamentals and deep theoretical basis of the study program bring high adaptability and high qualification of doctors for the most of requirements of their future creative practice in all areas of microelectronics and electrotechnology. Graduates are also equipped with the knowledge and experience from, in particular, physics of semiconductors, quantum electronics and will be able to independently solve problems associated with micro- and nanotechnologies.
The doctors are competent to work as scientists and researchers in many areas of basic research or research and development, as high-specialists in the development, design, construction, and application areas in many institutions, companies, and organisations of the electrical and electronics research, development, and industry as in the areas of electrical services and systems, inclusively in the special institutions of the state administration. In all of these branches they are able to work also as the leading scientific-, research-, development- or technical managers.
Each prospective Ph.D. student is required to select a convenient scientific research topic and a supervisor. Before applying to participate in the chosen programme, the applicant must contact the supervisor to obtain essential information concerning the doctoral study and thesis (dissertation).
How to apply
The procedures begin with the submission of an electronic application form. After being filled in, the document has to be printed, signed, and sent out by post (preferably a registered postal service) to the FEEC BUT, including the required attachments.
An application will be considered only if the appropriate charge of EUR 24 has been paid.
When applying, proceed as follows:
- Choose a study programme.
- Fill in the application form
- Pay the charge of EUR 24 (you will receive the details after submitting the application) and send out the signed form, together with all relevant supplementary items, to the FEEC.
The application and charge payment deadline for the academic year is May 15 of the given year; the supplementary documents to accompany the application form are specified below.
Application deadline 1st round: May 15 (1.4.-15.5.)
Application deadline 2nd round (if announced): July 31 (1.7.-31.7.)
2nd round Rules Regarding the Admission Procedures in Doctoral Study Programmes at FEEC BUT for 20/21
What are the required documents?
- A certified copy of an original degree certificate or an equivalent item of evidence issued by a foreign higher education institution to confirm the completion of studies (a copy of the applicant’s BSc. or BEng. certificate)
- A letter validating the recognition of foreign higher education.
These records (namely, their official hard copies) are obtainable from the competent regional authority and must be delivered to the FEEC in Czech or English, not later than August 31 of the given year.
Where the applicant cannot provide a certificate of recognition, they are allowed to submit, before or on July 15 of the given year and at the fee of CZK 700, a request for the assessment of education compatibility.
If, for any reason, the documents specified above are not deliverable to the FEEC within the deadline, the applicant may seek an extension, via a well-substantiated request to be submitted before or on September 15 of the given year.
