The doctoral study program "Theoretical Electrical Engineering" is focused on the preparation of high-qualified scientific and research specialists in various areas of theoretical electrical engineering. Particularly, in the theory and applications of electromagnetism, electrical circuits, electro/magnetic measurement methods and signal processing methods. The preparation is supported by the provision of knowledge in related mathematical disciplines such as stochastic processes and statistical methods of systems investigation, systems analysis using functional equations, design of multi-criteria optimization methods, numerical methods for solution of continuous and discrete dynamical systems and others. The aim of the program is to provide a doctoral education to graduates of Master's degree in all these sub-disciplines, to deepen their theoretical knowledge and to develop practical expert skills and to educate them in the methods of scientific work.

MORE INFORMATION

Graduate profile:

Graduates in doctoral study program "Theoretical Electrical Engineering" are able to solve scientific and complex technical innovation tasks in the field of electrical engineering at the theoretical level, as well as its practical use in research, development and production. To solve technical research and development tasks, they are equipped with a complex knowledge of the theory and application of electromagnetic field, electrical circuits, methods of measuring and signal processing and their physical and mathematical description. They are able to use modern computing, measuring and diagnostic techniques in a creative way.

Thanks to the high-quality theoretical education, practical expert skills and specialization in the chosen field, graduates of doctoral study are sought as specialists and executive staff in general electrical engineering. They will apply as researchers in basic or applied research, as specialists and leaders of teams in development, design and operation in research and development institutions and in electrical and electronic manufacturing companies operating in the field of advanced technologies.

Admission requirements:

Research topics
Each prospective Ph.D. student is required to select a convenient scientific research topic and a supervisor. Before applying to participate in the chosen programme, the applicant must contact the supervisor to obtain essential information concerning the doctoral study and thesis (dissertation).

How to apply
The procedures begin with the submission of an electronic application form. After being filled in, the document has to be printed, signed, and sent out by post (preferably a registered postal service) to the FEEC BUT, including the required attachments.

An application will be considered only if the appropriate charge of EUR 30 has been paid.

When applying, proceed as follows:

  • Choose a study programme.
  • Fill in the application form
  • Pay the charge of EUR 30 (you will receive the details after submitting the application) and send out the signed form, together with all relevant supplementary items, to the FEEC.

The application and charge payment deadline for the academic year is May 15 of the given year; the supplementary documents to accompany the application form are specified below.

Application deadline 1st round: May 15 (1.4.-15.5.)
Application deadline 2nd round (if announced): July 31 (1.7.-31.7.)

What are the required documents?

  • A certified copy of an original degree certificate or an equivalent item of evidence issued by a foreign higher education institution to confirm the completion of studies (a copy of the applicant’s BSc. or BEng. certificate)
  • A letter validating the recognition of foreign higher education.

These records (namely, their official hard copies) are obtainable from the competent regional authority and must be delivered to the FEEC in Czech or English, not later than August 31 of the given year.

Where the applicant cannot provide a certificate of recognition, they are allowed to submit, before or on July 15 of the given year and at the fee of CZK 750, a request for the assessment of education compatibility.

If, for any reason, the documents specified above are not deliverable to the FEEC within the deadline, the applicant may seek an extension, via a well-substantiated request to be submitted before or on September 15 of the given year.
