Politics, Media, and Communication
The bachelor-level programme Politics, Media, and Communication is for those interested in the transformation and development of the political and media spheres and their interconnection, the communication of political bodies, and the influence of media on the quality of democracy.
In the 21st century, media and public image are crucial players in politics – to understand contemporary politics, you need to understand media. To achieve that, the programme combines the approaches of comparative political science, political theory, and research on political behaviour, as well as the research of the new media, mass communication, and their impact.
Gain both soft and practical skills
Your analytical skills will be honed throughout the whole programme, as will be your understanding of research methods in social sciences. Become an analyst in the field or continue to pursue a career in academia.
Practical training locally and abroad
Practical training accompanied by supervision is an optional part of the curriculum to an extent of 50 hours. Faculty of Social Studies cultivates relationships with potential employers and encourages the students to participate in internships both locally and abroad to help students improve both their CV and skill-set.
To learn more about the programme, see it on the Masaryk University website.
A graduate of the programme has sufficient knowledge and skills to study a master-level programme in the field of media or political science.
Besides further education, the graduate can work as an independent expert in media houses, PR agencies, or public administration, or pursue a career as media or communications analyst for a wide range of employers, including international organisations, NGOs, political bodies, and more.
The admission procedure for the bachelor-level programmes at the MU Faculty of Social Studies encompasses two rounds.
In the first round, a prospective student submits an E-application and provides a number of documents (sent online) to the admissions office, including a cover letter and an essay on a given topic. After the evaluation of the submitted documents, a successful applicant is invited for the second round: an online video interview.
